Change Adoption diagnostics

Find out which teams are ready, and what adoption needs next.

Whether go-live is weeks away or you are living with a difficult rollout, a focused review shows you what is really happening in your teams, so you can decide where to act.

RISE phases covered

  1. Readying
  2. Involving
  3. Supporting
  4. Embedding

A readiness review fits Readying and Involving. An adoption review fits Supporting and Embedding.

See how RISE works
01Two kinds of review

Before the change, and once it is live.

We examine the behaviours the change requires, the conditions supporting them and the evidence of what is happening in everyday work.

Before the change 01
Readiness review

Are your teams ready for what this change will ask of them, or only saying they are?

We look at leadership alignment, how well people understand the change, capability, available capacity and everything else already landing on the same teams.

Finding this out before go-live gives you time to act on it.

During and after 02
Adoption review

Where is the new way taking hold, and where are people quietly working around it?

We look at the decisions and behaviours the change requires, how people experience them and what the evidence shows.

The aim is to separate the visible symptom from its possible causes, then identify useful action.

02What we look at

How the work really happens.

Before recommending anything, I want to understand the work people are being asked to change.

That means examining how tasks, decisions and handovers happen in practice, and identifying the obstacles and readiness conditions that matter. Six areas usually tell the story.

01

Leadership alignment

Do leaders describe the change, and what it asks of their teams, in the same way?

02

Understanding

Do people know what is changing for them, and why?

03

Capability

Can people do the new work, with the tools and support they have?

04

Capacity

Is there time to learn the new way while still delivering the day job?

05

Competing demands

What else is landing on the same teams at the same time?

06

Everyday adoption

Are the new decisions, tasks and handovers actually happening?

03Method

Evidence from more than one direction.

  1. 01

    Interviews

Conversations with leaders, managers and the people doing the work.

  2. 02

    Surveys

Appropriately designed for the question, the group and its size.

  3. 03

    Programme information

What your programme already holds, used before asking for more.

  4. 04

    A real task

Working through the task with the people doing it, to see how the work really happens.

We agree the question first. The people involved and the reporting arrangements are settled before any information is collected.

04What you receive

A usable basis for action.

  1. Findings

A clear account of what is happening, written for the people who need to act.

  2. Evidence and its limitations

What supports each finding, and what the evidence cannot tell you.

  3. Prioritised recommendations

Who needs to act, what decisions are required and how progress could be reviewed.

  • Confidentiality

Confidentiality includes how we handle small groups, so nobody can be identified from what they tell us.

You can take the findings forward internally, or discuss Change Adoption advisory with me.

Which teams are ready, and which are only saying they are?

Go-live is weeks away and every status report says green. Tell me what is changing and what you need to know. We will agree whether a review is the right step, and what it should cover.
